I'm a freelance/contractor developer in Dublin, Ireland. A self-taught developer who is currently using Ruby, JavaScript and Rails to build applications for various clients across many different industries.
The foundation of my work experience is in both customer service and Software Development which are two experiences that complement each other well. Since I have spoken to so many customers in a face-to-face setting, I'm curious about the human side of software users.
I have been a Ruby on Rails developer for 5 years. I'm comfortable with Ruby, Rails and JavaScript. With regards to JavaScript, I've used React, Angular and Stimulus JS.
I work as a freelancer full-time, I use BaseCamp to collaborate with people on a full-time basis.
Companies I've worked with include startups with less than 5 people to mid-sized companies with over 50 developers.
Outside of work, I'm always learning something new, building web applications for my ever-growing portfolio and connecting with other like-minded individuals who are passionate about technology and business.
In my spare time, you'll find me in the gym wondering if I should pack it all in for a chance at becoming a Instagram influencer.

"Comfort levels:
- Ruby: 7/10
- Rails: 7/10
- Javascript: 8/10
Years experience: 7
Design: Know it, but I'm not good at it. I stay in my lane. :)
Extra info: I've worked as a consultant for 7 years now and have focused on React and Rails for the last 5 of it. I emphasize quality, communication, and process. Technically, I believe strongly in clean code and automated testing. Finally, I've had the privilege of working with some great companies like The Knot to help them achieve goals from improving products to leveling up engineering teams."

I’ve been programming with Rails for almost ten years. I’m very proficient with it, and use a lot of the latest conventions / libraries, like Stimulus, on current projects. I do visual design (in browser) and have run many successful, profitable projects with customers in the for profit, nonprofit, and government / defense space.

"Ruby: Fairly comfortable - I've built ruby scripts leveraged by Ph.Ds in the formation of their theses that worked by parsing CSVs of data from an advanced particle physics computation engine, building an efficient in-memory model of the molecular structure described, and then generating an excel file with exhibits and charts indicating all of the relationships between the suborbital particles.
Rails: Fairly comfortable - I've build a few production Rails apps that are still on the web and handle tends of thousands of operations and requests per hour without running into performance issues
Javascript: Fairly comfortable - I got very involved in JavaScript around the time meteor 1.0 came around. I had worked with and could understand and maintain javascript within the various projects I worked with since 2010 when I got into ASP.NET MVC 3, but I really delved into ECMAScript 6 around then. Also, Vue. And React. And nodejs/express.)
Getting paid to develop software and IT solutions for about 17 years now. Softballjunk.com as a web developer in high school. Then, in college I worked for a manufacturing company, and got into their software side once I'd finished their hardware rotation. And I also interned at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control, followed by interning and working full time at L3's Link Simulation & Training after graduating with my computer science degree from UTA in '07.
I know the general concepts and broad strokes of design. Unless Tailwind counts? Plus I can hire some folks I've worked with previously on a case by case basis.
I'm working on an app myself that uses Jumpstart Pro, and I love it. I'm leveraging it for most of my client projects going forward as well, so it's something I'm getting very comfortable working with and building on top of."
